I haven't taken up this blog in a couple of months now. To be honest, I pretty much forgot I had a blog. It's really easy to do when things just start to pile up. Nonetheless, since the end of summer I'm now living in a different part of the country, have adjusted to life out of the house, and feel invigorated about life.
Simple things give me a lot of joy. For starters, grocery shopping. Piled into my '92 maroon Honda, my roommates and I enjoy an hour well spent at Aldi and Wal*Mart buying a week's worth of food. We make choices like whether to buy wheat over white and haggle with each other about how many packages of instant noodles we should buy for the week. There is bound to be hassles with getting the U-SCAN to work, but we're convinced that it's the fastest way to check-out.
One thing that I've been thinking about during the past few days is that life is short. It's like a cup of freshly brewed steeping hot coffee. It only stays hot for so much time. After that, it becomes cold and is only good for throwing out (unless you're the type of person that would stoop so low as to drink reheated coffee).
The remedy? Live in the moment. Take advantage of opportunities that come your way. Risk. Enjoy seemingly mundane tasks like shopping. Wear a tie to work. Send a random person a Facebook comment. Write a handwritten letter to someone. Relive a childhood memory. Use your imagination and I bet that you'll come up with a crazy idea. Smiles are free you know!
