I live in a community with awesome people.
This past week has been Dead Week, i.e. the-week-before-finals. It's the week that you sleep 3 hours a night and do everything you procrastinated to do all semester. Dead Week is what most students come to dread.
Oddly enough, it has been one of my most favorite weeks at Valpo. Over the last 7 days, I've spent over 6 hours a day writing in the library ... with my friends. Early in the week, a bunch of us began studying in the same area of the library, a third floor study table. This table has became like sacred ground. We meet ritually. Laughs fly almost instantly. One night, we actually arranged a dance party. At 12:55am we busted out Justice on computer speakers and partied amidst the stacks. Glorious.
What I've learned through all of this is that community is how life was intended to be lived. Invite people over and live life together.
