The Last Shinkansen

I'm coming to relish my time on the Shinkansen; it gives me time to sit, relax and update my blog. Right now I'm on my way from Hiroshima to Yokohama. This is nearly my last train ride in Japan and I am still in shock at the efficiency and reliability of these trains. Actually, the whole Japanese transportation system is quite remarkable. With the frequent and extensive nature of the long distance and local transportation systems, mass transit is by far the best way to get around. The Tokyo transit system in particular must be the world's subway and local train system. Comparing Tokyo to Paris, I would say that the Japanese have the French beat 2 or 3 times over. The number of routes, frequency of trains, and service to the outlying areas is mind blowing.

Derik,
I am amazed at all you've experienced so far. And am so thankful for the miracle God set up for you after 'losing' your important papers.
By now you're probabley with Atsuko and nephew.
I would love to visit Japan after seeing your blogs.
Tis is the first blog I've commented on. I tried before but couldn't figure how to post it.
I love you,
Dad
