Today, my host family suggested I try some baguan. I'll do my best to describe it. Using these plastic cups and a reverse air pump, the cups are put on your back and the air is sucked out so that it gives your skin red hickeys! They do several of these at a time so that you have 5 or 6 welts on your back. I'm not sure exactly what the theory is behind it, but supposedly if you do it on different pressure points on your back, it heals different ailments.
I wasn't really in the mood today, so I only tried one. It didn't hurt, but it didn't make me feel much better either. Would you try it?

Derik, you're scaring mom--and me.
I still think baguan is a joke. I think it works to some extent that it helps blood circulation. However don't expect that it can cure any sickness...It's a joke! As a Chinese, I'm not proud of this invention. Not a bit!
May you get better real soon!
I would probably not try this method. I do hope you start feeling better soon though!
franklin, how did you ever get to be so westernized?
Derik, I've seen videos of that on YouTube... but in the videos, they were using glass jars and flames! They quickly heat the air in the glass jar, then just stick it against the person's back, and it sucks their skin back into the jar. It looks NASTY!
So, to answer your question: I'd watch you try it, but I wouldn't try it myself. :)
i like your answer rich. how about i buy one of the kits and bring it back with me. we could have it be our entertainment portion of bible study.
Shengyuan, you're so brave! And I hope you've felt much better by now.
